The Climate Change Institute Carbon Registry contains the records of issued carbon credit certificates and serial numbers such as Verified Carbon Units or VCUs and Carbon Offset Units or CoUs.
Each represents a reduction or removal of one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) achieved by a project. They are characterized by a number of quality assurance principles which are confirmed through the project validation and verification process to review and approval.
Carbon Credits can be purchased and retired by an end user as a means of offsetting their emissions. All issuance and retirement records are publicly available on international carbon registries such as VERRA Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) and Carbon Offset Units (CoUs).
The Climate Change Institute is a member of The CTX Exchange, VERRA CSA and other official registries. Registry account holders must pass strict background checks prior to opening an account and individuals may not open a registry account.
When the Institute acquires a block of carbon credits, they are transferred into our Carbon Registry Account. They may be held, transferred or ‘retired’ when they are sold to a person or company to offset their emissions. Each block of carbon credits is called a ‘Carbon Offset Group’ or COG, and allocated a COG#. Each COG has a serial number equivalent to 1 x tonne of C02e. If you have received a Carbon Offset Certificate from the Climate Change Institute, you can see the transaction on our website and can verify it on the appropriate Carbon Registry.

This initial supply of tokens is strictly capped and reflects the exact volume of carbon credit certificates currently held by the Climate Change Institute and verified in the appropriate international registry.
Each coin is directly linked to a real carbon credit, ensuring that no coin is minted unless matched 1:1 with a verified tonne of CO₂e reduction. This ensures every CCC token has a tangible environmental and monetary value.
